James C. Copeland, Ph.D. - President
Dr. Copeland is a co-founder of Oxyrase, Inc. and has led the company from its inception in 1987
. He has a BS degree in Microbiology from the University of Illinois, MS degree in Radiation Biology from the University of Tennesee, and a PhD degree from Rutger's Institute of Microbiology. In addition, Dr. Copeland has a MBA from the University of Chicago.

In addition, Dr. Copeland has a MBA from the University of Chicago.He has trained in molecular genetics as an American Cancer Society Post-doctoral Fellow at The Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. He conducted research in areas of microbial genetics and regulatory mechanisms as a staff scientist in the Biology Division at Argonne National Laboratory. Dr. Copeland was a tenured faculty member in the Department of Microbiology at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He became Director of Research and Development, Biotechnology at CPC International in Argo, Illinois. He founded Enzyme Technology Corporation in Ashland, Ohio which was sold and merged into another enzyme company.
Dr. Copeland has authored numerous patents and scientific publications.
